The Guinness World RecordsTM is the universally recognized authority on record-breaking achievement. Currently, the most people wearing sunglasses in the dark is 1,675 and was achieved by Gilda’s LaughFest (USA) in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA, on 6 March 20141. We want you to help set an official world record at Optometry’s Meeting 2015! Do you have your shades ready? Let us see!  #VariluxOSB and #SunnyRecord!


Jennifer’s pumped for OSB!

JenniferJennifer McFarlane is from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS), University School of Optometry, Class of 2016. Her hometown lies in Littleton, Colorado. Jennifer enjoys reading and exploring the Great Outdoors with her 4 year old daughter. Jennifer’s fun fact is that she is a huge fan of musicals! Her goal is to practice primary care optometry in Colorado! We wish her the best at OSB!

Pat from Pacific!

Pat WilliamsonPatrick Williamson is in the Pacific University College of Optometry (PUCO), Class of 2016. His hometown lies in Montevideo, MN. Patrick loves spending time with his wife and two daughters, playing games (card, board, lawn), playing sports, hunting, and fishing. His favorite scientist is Nikola Tesla. Pat’s goal is to own a private practice in Minnesota with an emphasis on contact lenses and anterior surface disease. Let’s give it up for Pat at OSB!

KC’s Ready for OSB!

iPhone Image A0DE26Kaushal Chinnusamy (KC) is from SUNY College of Optometry, Class of 2016! KC’s from Windsor, Ontario, Canada. His hobbies include running and hockey. He claims to enjoy eating and sleeping like no other! His fun fact is that he can lick his elbows! KC’s goal is to be a successful and a great doctor! He also wants to do humanitarian work around the world and own a billboard in Times Square, but not necessarily in that order. We wish him the best in Seattle for OM15!

Sarah’s Intro

sarah IU 2015My name is Sarah Kuipers, and I am the contestant from Indiana University School of Optometry (IUSO), class of 2016. My hometown is Rapid City, SD. I like to hike, run, and crochet. One fun fact is that I used to be a competitive fencer. My goals are to go into private practice optometry in south Dakota, and to eat my weight in raw oysters while in Seattle.

Ben Jager brings his game face!

Ketchum University, School of Optometry  (MKBU), also known as, the Southern California College of Optometry (SCCO) and is currently in the Class of 2016! His hometown lies in Baker City, Oregon. Ben does not turn down a chance to play basketball and tennis. He also enjoys cooking, homebrewing beer, and hiking. Ben’s goal is to complete a residency in ocular disease. We welcome Ben to the Varilux® Optometry Student Bowl™!

Mylène from Montréal is ready to Win!

montreal myleneMylène Danielle Desjardins is the OSB contestant and past-AOSA Trustee from the University of Montreal – School of Optometry (UM), class of 2016! Her hometown is in Drummond, New Brunswick Canada and she is multilingual. Mylène says “when I speak french, my first language, I tend to roll my ‘r’ ´s excessively.” Her hobbies are singing, movies, and volunteering. Her goal is to not trip and fall at the Varilux Optometry Student Bowl!

Ben Roach Rallies a Crowd at OSB!

ben roach SCOBenjamin Roach is representing the Southern College of Optometry (SCO) for OSB! Ben is in the Class of 2017 and is very active in school such as being the Sports Vision Section Liaison, SGA Class Representative, and Student Ambassador. His hometown is in The Woodlands of Texas. Ben says, “My hobbies include saving vision (duh), sports, and cooking. I am recently engaged to my high school sweetheart (who is also a student at SCO!).” Ben is hoping to be residency trained and work in academics somewhere down the line.
